Thinking of opening a joint bank account?

If you need to share money with your partner, flatmate or friend, then a joint account could be the answer

Why opening a joint account adds up

  • You'll both have access to the same pot of money
  • You can both collect Tesco Clubcard points as you spend
  • All transactions are on one statement, making it easier to manage household bills
  • You'll both have access to Online Banking and our mobile app

Who can open a joint account?

The good news is that any two people can open a joint account together – you don’t have to live at the same address, and you don’t have to be married.

You just need to make sure that you both meet the normal requirements for a sole current account. That means you need to be over 18 to apply. Subject to status.

And remember that ‘joint’ means ‘joint’ in all things. So you’ll both have control over the account. But you'll also both be liable for paying off any debt if you go overdrawn.
